Dr Francis Tomlinson

Dr Francis Tomlinson is a Consultant Neurosurgeon and a founding member of Briz Brain & Spine in Brisbane. He specialises in the surgical treatment of conditions of the brain and spine, with particular interests in neuro-oncology, spinal surgery, skull base surgery and vascular neurosurgery.

Dr Tomlinson graduated in medicine from the University of Queensland in 1977 and completed his advanced neurosurgical training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, undertaking his PhD alongside that training. He then spent three years at the Mayo Clinic in the United States before returning to Brisbane as a Visiting Neurosurgical Consultant at the Royal Brisbane and Royal Children’s Hospitals. In that role he served as a Clinical Associate Professor, supervising neurosurgical training.

Dr Tomlinson has been in full-time private practice since 2004. He no longer operates, but he continues to consult and provide expert neurosurgical opinion, and he has a particular interest in medico-legal work.
